Cross-border truck freight at Krakovets and Shehyni up 18% year-on-year
Cross-border truck freight at the Krakovets and Shehyni border crossings — western Ukraine's primary road trade corridors with Poland — increased 18% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, according to data from Ukraine's State Customs Service. Combined throughput at the two crossings was 142,000 trucks in Q1 2026, versus 120,000 in Q1 2025.
Export flows account for 58% of total volume, with grain and oilseed products comprising the largest single category at 34% of export tonnage. The growth in agricultural exports reflects the continued rerouting of grain through land corridors as an alternative to Black Sea routes affected by conflict.
## Construction materials inflow
Import volumes have grown faster than exports on a percentage basis. Construction materials — structural steel, cement, glass, and electrical components — accounted for 28% of import volume in Q1 2026, up from 18% in Q1 2025. The increase reflects procurement for IFI-funded reconstruction projects in Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Mykolaiv oblasts, with materials transiting Lviv as the primary western entry point.
